01/04/2008

Ducati motor cycles are known the world over for producing iconic and exclusivemotorcycles set against a back drop of rich history, pedigree and racing success.

The Ducati brand, whilst hugely powerful and instantly recognisable, belies a commercial operation which produced 40,000 motor cycles for the global market in 2007, just over 2,000 of which were retailed in the UK market. A growth in sales of 36% (2007 V’s 2006) has beenenjoyed by the 32 strong official Ducati dealer network making Ducati the fastest growing major motor cycle brand in the UK during 2007.Further product plans and business strategies are in place to drive continued sales growthfor the network in the UK. Tim Maccabee (Ducati UK Managing Director) comments,

With our relatively small and committed network our focus will also beon helping our Ducati Stores and dealers to manage their business foroptimum efficiency whilst maximising profit opportunities as we growthe UK business together”.“We recognise that this requires specialist knowledge and a highquality approach to understanding and developing our retailbusinesses which is why we have chosen to work with Baker TillyAutomotive Services as our commercial partner”.

Whilst Ducati UK have been breaking sales records it is thanks to one of the strongest model ranges ever produced by the Italian manufacturer. The flagship model the 1098 has not only taken plaudits in the press but has been the catalyst for a revival in the fortunes of Ducati Motor Holdings. The 1098 has been the fastest ever selling Ducati model in the history of Ducati UK even out-performing even the iconic 916 and the Monster, and has captured the imagination of Sportsbike lovers all over the world with its’ uncompromising design and stunning performance.A succession of other models has been released to similar acclaim and sales success suchas the Hypermotard, the 848,1098R and Desmosedici RR. However by far the most important bike recently unveiled for 2008 was the Monster 696. This is the first major redesign of the Monster since it was launched in 93  and having seen 200,000 bikes leave the production line, now the 696 is thenew Monster to drive the company and the dealer network into the future.

Andy Simpson (Ducati UK Network Development Manager) commented,

“Adapting and placing Ducati UK resources accurately will be vital to support our dealer development plans for  the future and we see the BTAS  team playing an instrumental role in guiding this process. Working closely with them will allow us to enter a new phase of commercial development, supported by fantastic new products and a powerful global brand”.
